We will never sell your data. We collect only what is needed to run the service. You can delete your account and all your data at any time.
1. Introduction
KaiBlu ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use kaiblu.co.za and the KaiBlu app. By using KaiBlu products, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your data.
2. What data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the KaiBlu service: • Email address — used for account authentication • Conversations with KaiBlu — stored securely in our database so you can access your chat history • Baby profile information you choose to provide (name, date of birth, gender) • Contact form submissions — name, email, and message if you contact us via the website • Usage data — which features you use, to help us improve the product What we do NOT collect: • Payment details (handled entirely by RevenueCat and app stores) • Device-stored avatar photos (stored on your device only — never uploaded to our servers) • Your location • Any data from children under 18
3. How we use your data
We use your data solely to: • Provide and personalise the KaiBlu service • Save your conversation history and bookmarks • Respond to contact form enquiries • Improve the safety and quality of AI responses • Send important product updates (only if you have opted in) We do not use your data for advertising. KaiBlu products are ad-free.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or distribute your personal data or chat history to any third parties, with the following limited exceptions: • Supabase — our database provider, which stores your data securely on encrypted servers • Anthropic — your messages are processed by Claude AI to generate responses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing • RevenueCat — processes subscription payments. They do not receive your chat history or baby profile data • Apple App Store / Google Play Store — handle payment processing for subscriptions All third parties are bound by their own privacy policies and applicable data protection law.
5. Data security
We take security seriously: • All data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with Row-Level Security (RLS) enabled — your data is only accessible to you • All connections are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS • The AI API key is stored as a server-side secret and never exposed in app code • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text • We conduct regular security reviews of our systems
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account: • Your account deletion request is processed within 5 working days • All your conversation history, baby profiles, and personal data are permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers • We cannot recover deleted data after this process is complete Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months for customer service purposes.
7. Your rights (POPIA)
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and applicable South African law, you have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you • Request correction of inaccurate information • Request deletion of your personal information • Object to the processing of your information • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@kaiblu.co.za.
8. Children's privacy
KaiBlu is designed for parents and caregivers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we will delete it.
9. Cookies
kaiblu.co.za uses minimal cookies: • Authentication cookies — to keep you logged into the admin panel • No advertising or tracking cookies • No third-party analytics cookies (we use privacy-respecting analytics only) You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect the functionality of the admin panel.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of KaiBlu after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
